At first I was grateful for the extra day you gave me to work on my thesis, but now I hate that my friends are far, and feel (and actually are) out of reach, that I am on edge because I’m worried someone I care about might get hurt or not be okay, that countless people are suffering, that so many are without power, that I have to feel so completely helpless as the city I call home is rendered unrecognizable.

Bleh, wish I was a kid again and my dad was around to make all of this make sense and feel less scary. Instead, we have a bathtub filled with water, one flashlight, and ramen.

It’s scary to see lower Manhattan completely dark. I am counting my blessings. Hope everyone stays safe and dry!

Andrew and I got front row seats to the concert -completely by chance and sheer luck, mind you. We were so close to the orchestra, the shuffle of hurriedly-turned music pages, and the squeak of chairs, were both clearly audible.
